TRIP ADVISOR MILESTONE

JERSEY UNCOVERED TOURIST GUIDES REACH TRIP ADVISOR MILESTONE

Launched on 14th March 2016, Jersey Uncovered was the brainchild of seven qualified Blue Badge Guides, whose aim was to showcase the charming Island of Jersey to visitors and locals alike.

Now a mere eighteen months from its launch, Jersey Uncovered is going from strength to strength. Having already acquired ‘Recommended’ status on the travel review website Trip Advisor, and won the “Service Excellence Award for 2017” from the Luxury Travel Guide, this team of six professional Blue Badge Tourist Guides have now achieved their landmark 50th recommendation on Trip Advisor, of which 49 were rated the top 5* Excellent.

Tracey Radford, Blue Badge Guide and Jersey Uncovered’s Trip Advisor coordinator, said that ‘whilst every review we receive is very much appreciated, our 50th is even more special. Hopefully reaching the ‘big 5-O’ means we are getting things right, and helping visitors and locals to get the most out of their Jersey experience’. Certainly the following quotes from Trip Advisor suggest that this is the case; ‘never a dull moment’, ‘a wonderful and interesting day’, ‘fabulous personal tour’, ‘could not have asked for a better guide’ and ‘best guide ever’. These are just a few of the glowing reviews to be found on the Trip Advisor site.

The team have had many varied and interesting assignments, whether on foot, by car or even on the water, and whilst they have ‘uncovered’ Jersey for many visitors enjoying a ‘traditional’ type of holiday, clients have also included cruise ship passengers, journalists, corporate ‘away days’, team-building events, and university student reunions. Jersey Uncovered’s guests have travelled not only from the United Kingdom, but also as far away as Australia, the United States of America, Germany, France, and Belgium.

Many of the tours on offer are bespoke, from 60th anniversary strolls down memory lane, to “walks on the wild side”, nature trails, two-day hikes, and historical adventures. Jersey Uncovered have guided their guests through historical St Helier, explored Castles, toured botanical gardens, and even gone in search of runner ducks and Manx Loaghtan sheep. There is never a dull moment with a Jersey Uncovered guide.

In addition, Jersey Uncovered’s German and French speaking guides, Clive Jones, Kary Day and Nicky Mansell have ensured that European visitors enjoy tours in their own language.

So what is the next step for the Jersey Uncovered team?

Blue Badge Guide Kary Day explained, ‘we look forward to reaching our 100th review, hopefully in the very near future. But more importantly, we aim to continue providing excellent client experiences and professional guiding services, all delivered with humour and awareness for our clients’ individual requirements.”

Never content to sit back on their laurels, the team at Jersey Uncovered seek to further develop their business, working closely with Visit Jersey, and marketing directly to overseas clients next year via Destination Jersey. In Kary’s words, “the aim is to continue to showcase this beautiful island to the best of our ability and to the widest possible audience”. She encouraged readers of this article to come and see for themselves, and to ‘Follow the Blue” with Jersey Uncovered!
