Solve the mystery of the missing painting - Millais’ famous “A Jersey Lily”
The Painting:
Created in 1878 Sir John Everett Millais beautiful oil on canvas of Lily Langtry, Socialite, Actress, and former mistress of Bertie, Prince of Wales (King Edward VII) this painting has graced the walls of Jersey Museum for almost 100 years.
The Mystery
Recently, Jersey Heritage conservators removed the frame from the painting and made a startling discovery – it was a copy! Scandalous. WHERE is the original?
The Mission
Your mission if you choose to accept it is to unravel the cryptic clues to take you around our charming St Helier Streets in the footsteps of our Famous Detective Sergeant Jim Bergerac.
During your morning you will uncover more clues at each location, to help you put together the fascinating story behind the missing painting, and discover, at the end of the trail, the location of the original (if you can).
The Tour is three-hour romp that will take you across St Helier, through backstreets and hidden alley ways, from the Jersey Museum to the Royal Square and beyond, providing you with entertainment, photographic opportunities, and a large dollop of local history and mystery. Miss it if you dare
